The protocol for the “Water is Life 2025” project, which will be carried out in cooperation with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality ASAT General Directorate and the Antalya Provincial Directorate of National Education, was signed. Within the scope of the protocol signed by ASAT General Manager Av. İbrahim Kurt and Antalya Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz, the importance of water will be explained by drawing attention to the climate crisis and drought.
The project aims to raise awareness by drawing attention to depleting water resources, to provide information about water by explaining the stages of water purification, and to develop environmental awareness at an early age. In the 14-week project, the ASAT project team and 11 teacher candidates from Akdeniz University Faculty of Education will provide water awareness to 4th grade students in a total of 4 schools, 8 in the city center and 4 in the district, by drawing attention to depleting water resources, climate crisis, and drought, and to provide water awareness at an early age by explaining the stages of water purification. As part of the project, students will be given tours of the ASAT General Directorate Service Building, Hurma Wastewater Treatment Plant, Duraliler Pumping Station, and Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Zero Waste Facilities, and will be provided with information about the operations of the facilities.
THE IMPORTANCE OF WATER WILL BE EXPLAINED
Describing the benefits of the protocol, ASAT General Manager Av. İbrahim Kurt stated that issues such as climate crisis, depletion of water resources, and drought have become major problems in our country as well as in the world. General Manager Kurt said, “With the trainings we will provide within the scope of the project, we aim to raise awareness of our students about water at an early age. In one of the field trips we will conduct, we will explain to our students how water is purified and how water is processed and released without harming the environment at the Hurma Treatment Plant. We have seen that the trainings we have provided to our primary school students within the framework of the protocols we have previously made with the Ministry of National Education have had positive results. We believe that we will obtain positive results from this project as well.”
STUDENTS WILL BE AWARENESSED AT AN EARLY AGE
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Antalya Provincial Director of National Education Salih Kaygusuz said, “With this important collaboration, we want to raise awareness among our students at an early age by addressing the issues of efficient use of water and environmental awareness. We also aim to raise awareness among our students through practical field trips and training.”
