Vietnam has successfully completed the delivery of 12 L-39 Skyfox trainer aircraft from Czech manufacturer Aero Vodochody. Aero Vodochody announced on its official X account that all 12 aircraft made to the Vietnamese Air Force have been delivered. Six of these deliveries have finally arrived in Vietnam.
Delivery Process and Tests
After the first delivery in March 2024, the latest delivery to Vietnam included 6 L-39 Skyfox aircraft. The test flight of Vietnam's first L-39 Skyfox aircraft was successfully completed in October 2023. It was reported that there were no problems with the aircraft after the tests. Aero Vodochody manufactured and tested these aircraft according to high safety and performance standards.
Military Aviation Relations Between Vietnam and the Czech Republic
Before purchasing the L-39 Skyfox aircraft, Vietnam had previously purchased aircraft from Czechoslovakia, such as the Zlín Z-226, the Aero AE 45 and the L-39 Albatros. This demonstrates the deep military aviation cooperation between the two countries. The Vietnamese Air Force currently has 37 L-39 aircraft in its inventory. This was strengthened by the new procurement, in addition to the 25 L-39 Albatros already in the inventory.
Importance and Global Use of L-39 Skyfox
The L-39 Skyfox is a model used by many countries worldwide for training and combat flights. Vietnam's procurement of these aircraft is considered part of its modernization efforts in military aviation. In addition, L-39 Albatros aircraft are still actively used in many countries, especially former Warsaw Pact countries.
The L-39 Skyfox aircraft procured by Vietnam will be used for both training and advanced combat training, further enhancing the air power of the Vietnamese Air Force.
