
An urban search and rescue exercise was carried out by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality teams. In the exercise, which was accompanied by various civil society organizations, 2 citizens who were trapped in a collapsed house as per the scenario were rescued.
Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams conducted an urban search and rescue drill in a building that was planned to be demolished in the Yomra district. While 14 personnel from the Fire Department and 2 search and rescue dogs participated in the drill, which was held in the evening hours, various civil society organizations also accompanied them. In the drill, in which 15 personnel from the Education, Research, Assistance and Search and Rescue Association (ANDA), 8 personnel from the Trabzon Disaster Volunteers Search and Rescue Association (TAKAT), 13 personnel from the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (İHH), and 7 personnel from the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) participated, search and rescue work was conducted in a building that was thought to have collapsed and trapped 2 citizens as per the scenario.
FAST AND EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION
In a statement made by the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated that “We will continue our determination to be prepared for disasters and to increase social awareness. The continuous development of our teams through training and drills will enable us to make faster and more effective interventions in possible disaster situations. The life and property safety of our citizens is always our priority. We will continue to increase similar studies in this direction.”
