Number of Airline Passengers in Türkiye Surpasses 30 Million in Two Months

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that 2025 million 14 thousand 234 passengers traveled by air in February 345. Minister Uraloğlu said, “The total number of passengers served in two months reached 30 million 457 thousand 920.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ)'s airline aircraft, passenger and cargo data for February 2025. Noting that the number of aircraft landing and taking off at passenger and environmentally friendly airports was 58 on domestic lines and 345 on international lines, Uraoğlu said, "Thus, total aircraft traffic reached 50, including overflights."

Minister Uraloğlu stated that domestic passenger traffic was 6 million 435 thousand 916 and international passenger traffic was 7 million 792 thousand 684 in February. Uraloğlu noted that a total of 14 million 234 thousand 345 passengers traveled, including direct transit passengers. Uraloğlu also stated that 60 thousand 72 tons of cargo was carried on domestic lines and 269 thousand 67 tons on international lines in the said month, and that the cargo carried reached 329 thousand 139 tons.

Number of Passengers Traveling by Air in Two Months Exceeds 30 Million

Uraloğlu noted that in the January-February period, the aircraft traffic landing and taking off at the airports was 130 on domestic lines and 862 on international lines, thus reaching a total of 108 aircraft traffic including overflights, and made the following statements in his statement:

“During this period, when domestic passenger traffic at airports across Turkey was 13 million 977 thousand 241 and international passenger traffic was 16 million 469 thousand 602, a total of 30 million 457 thousand 920 passengers were served, including direct transit passengers. When the passenger traffic served at the end of February 2025 is compared to the same period in 2024; there was a 3,6 percent increase in total passenger traffic, including direct transit. During the period in question, airport freight traffic reached a total of 128 thousand 885 tons, 565 thousand 843 tons on domestic lines and 694 thousand 727 tons on international lines.”

Istanbul Airport Served 5 Million 692 Thousand 25 Passengers

Minister Uraloğlu stated that in February, the plane traffic at Istanbul Airport, one of Türkiye's mega projects, reached 7 in total, with 615 on domestic flights and 29 on international flights. Uraloğlu also noted that a total of 209 passengers were served at Istanbul Airport, with 36 on domestic flights and 824 on international flights.

Uraloğlu, who stated that in the January-February period, there was a total of 16 aircraft traffic at the airport in question, 618 on domestic lines and 63 on international lines, said, “There was a total of 127 passenger traffic, 79 on domestic lines and 745 on international lines.”

Providing information about the passenger traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Uraloğlu said, “Passenger traffic was 1 million 283 thousand 770 in domestic flights and 1 million 938 thousand 566 in international flights, totaling 3 million 222 thousand 336. Aircraft traffic was 7 thousand 181 in domestic flights and 11 thousand 78 in international flights, totaling 18 thousand 259.”

Uraloğlu stated that a total of 16 aircraft traffic was carried out at Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the two-month period, 283 in domestic lines and 23 in international lines, and that a total of 700 passenger traffic was served, 39 in domestic lines and 983 in international lines.

Uraloğlu also reported that Istanbul Ataturk Airport aircraft traffic was 901 in the month in question and 4 in the two-month period.

Tourism Centers Hosted 3 Million 950 Thousand 528 Passengers in Two Months

Minister Uraloğlu noted that the number of passengers served at airports in tourism centers reached 2 million 416 thousand 704 in total, 1 million 533 thousand 824 in domestic flights and 3 million 950 thousand 528 in international flights. Minister Uraloğlu stated that there was a total of 21 thousand 42 aircraft traffic, 11 thousand 347 in domestic flights and 32 thousand 389 in international flights, and continued his words as follows:

“In the two-month period, 1 million 590 thousand 906 passengers were served at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 1 million 948 thousand 453 passengers were served at Antalya Airport and 151 thousand 588 passengers were served at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport. While a total of 188 thousand 569 passengers were served at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, a total of 71 thousand 12 passenger traffic was realized at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport.”
