A rich selection of miniature objects that have been a center of religious and cultural interest for humanity from Ancient Egypt to the present awaits visitors at the Rahmi M. Koç Museum. These miniature objects, meticulously crafted in every detail and fascinated by their master craftsmanship, take visitors on a journey through time.
The world's smallest toy train
The museum collection includes many miniature objects, from the world's smallest train set to everyday objects, from dolls that can be seen through a lens to various transportation vehicles.
One of these is a toy station building produced by Gebruder Bing in the 1920s. The length of the station, made of tin, is 42 cm and its width is 19,9 cm. Another interesting example is a working steam engine that is only 52 cm. Among the miniature objects in the museum are thousands of objects such as sewing machines, bicycles and bird cages.
Perfect in every detail
The “18th Century Ottoman Coffeehouse”, which was produced flawlessly in every detail by American Henry Kupjack, one of the living masters of miniature art, is among the most popular objects in the museum. The coffeehouse, which Kupjack modeled exactly down to its pinhead-sized accessories, was built upon Rahmi M. Koç’s request and presented to the museum by Kupjack.
Miniature examples of the items we use in our daily lives are fascinating. These include everything from miniature cookware to sewing machines, porcelain sets to bird cages and musical instruments such as violins and pianos.
