First Step Taken for Urban Transformation in Çorum

Çorum Municipality has started negotiations with the residents of Gülabibey Neighborhood Hasanpaşa Street regarding the urban transformation process. Deputy Mayor Fatih Özüyağlı stated that the process was carried out transparently and the negotiations were carried out in the Urban Transformation Office established in Çorum Municipality.

Özüyağlı stated that a large part of Türkiye is at risk of earthquakes and that Çorum feels this threat more closely due to the fault lines around it. In this context, the necessity of urban transformation projects was emphasized in order to make the city more resilient to disasters and to create safe, modern living spaces. It was emphasized that urban transformation does not only include the renewal of buildings, but also the increase of social areas and the protection of green areas.

There are 39 buildings and 266 independent sections in the area included in the urban transformation in Gülabibey Neighborhood. This area was declared as “Urban Transformation and Development Area” by Çorum Municipality Council on October 4, 2024.
