Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fırat Görgel met with members of the press working in the city at the sahur program organized by the AKP Provincial Presidency. The program held at Şairler Tepesi was also attended by; 66th Government Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci, AKP Kahramanmaraş Deputies Ömer Oruç Bilal Debgici, Tuba Köksal, Mevlüt Kurt and Mehmet Şahin, Onikişubat Mayor Hanifi Toptaş, AKP Onikişubat District Chairman Durdu Sefa Kekeç and Dulkadiroğlu District Chairman Ali Çam. During the sahur program, which saw intense participation, the city protocol made evaluations on the projects that will shape the future of Kahramanmaraş and sincerely answered the questions of the members of the press.
Good News of 1 Giant Transportation Investments Worth 2 Billion TL
Speaking at the program, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fırat Görgel shared important good news. Mayor Görgel said, “Thank God, our Kahramanmaraş is getting better every day. Today, I would like to share another piece of good news with you. The tenders for the Sümbüllü Junction – Western Beltway Connection Project and the Industrial Junction Project, which we prepared the projects for as the Metropolitan Municipality and submitted to the General Directorate of Highways, have been completed. After the holiday, the contracts will hopefully be signed and construction work will begin shortly. I hope that the projects to be implemented with a total investment of 1 Billion TL will be beneficial to our city.”
“We Will Carry Our Kahramanmaraş Much Further”

Master Plan in Rail System
Answering the question about the rail system, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fırat Görgel said, “Currently, we have 130 thousand citizens using public transportation daily throughout the city. Although this number needs to exceed 250 thousand for the rail system to be feasible, we want our city to meet the new generation public transportation systems. We are meeting with both our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Two companies are currently revising our transportation master plan. Hopefully, we plan to start the rail system work with the most ideal routes in line with our master plan within our term.”
Projects Delivered
Sharing the latest information about the stadium investment, Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fırat Görgel said, “We have completed our Kahramanmaraş Stadium project and delivered it to our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. We expect the tender to be held soon. Kahramanmaraş Stadium, which will have a capacity of 17, will be a project that will add value to our city with its lodges, foyer areas and social facilities.”
