Messages emphasizing the importance of family are included on the mahyas that decorate mosques in the second half of Ramadan for the "Year of Family"
Reflecting the spiritual atmosphere of the month of Ramadan, the Ottoman tradition of hanging mahyas continues to decorate mosques this year.
Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's declaration of the "Year of the Family", activities to raise awareness of protecting and strengthening the family are being carried out across the country under the coordination of the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
In this context, in the second half of Ramadan, in order to emphasize the "Year of Family", mahyas with the inscriptions "Family is the foundation of society" and "Our family is our future" were hung in mosques across the country.
The ministry's statement on the subject reads, "Our mahyas are shining with the message 'Family is the foundation of society'. The mahyas of our mosques will be lit with messages emphasizing the importance of family as part of our Year of the Family activities in the second half of Ramadan."
