Significant Development in Pakistan Railway Infrastructure

Pakistan is making significant progress in its railway infrastructure. Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced on Friday that new railway links have been completed. These projects aim to increase the efficiency of transportation by connecting various parts of the country. Minister Abbasi emphasized that these links will contribute to trade and tourism, and that railway transportation will have a positive impact on economic growth.

Advantages of Railway Transportation

Stating that the railway is more cost-effective compared to other modes of transportation, Abbasi emphasized that freight transport by railway is more economically efficient. It is anticipated that trade volume will increase and businesses will earn more thanks to railway transportation. This development will not only contribute to the growth of trade but will also provide significant support to the Pakistani economy. Stating that new connections will especially benefit the tourism sector, Abbasi said that the railway will bring different regions of the country closer to each other.

ML-1 Project: A Critical National Priority

Abbasi also announced plans for the completion of the ML-1 project, which is a critical priority for Pakistan. The project aims to modernize the infrastructure of Pakistan Railways and make the railway network more efficient. The Minister stated that if friendly countries provide assistance, the progress of the project will be accelerated. However, he assured that even if foreign assistance is not provided, Pakistan Railways will complete the project independently. With this project, Pakistan's railway infrastructure will be significantly strengthened and become more efficient.

Combating Terrorism and Security Measures

Condemning the recent Jaffar Express attack, Abbasi called for national unity against terrorism. Stating that the terrorists involved in the attack were quickly neutralized, Abbasi announced that they would also quickly go after the terrorists who fled to Afghanistan. This incident once again demonstrated Pakistan's determination regarding security measures. Abbasi emphasized that the country would not compromise against terrorism and that they would act together against any threat.

Regional Connections and New Railway Projects

Pakistan is working on new railway projects to strengthen its connections with Central Asia. The Pakistan-Afghanistan railway link, in particular, is of great importance in terms of increasing regional trade. A memorandum of understanding for the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway line was previously signed, and the construction of this line will strengthen economic relations in the region.

Tharparkar Railway Project: Economic Growth and Savings

Pakistan Railways has launched the Tharparkar Railway project in line with economic goals. This project involves the construction of a 105-kilometer line to connect coal mines in the Sindh region. The project is a major infrastructure investment expected to be completed by 2025. The project aims to transport 10 million tons of coal per year, which will significantly reduce Pakistan’s fuel import costs. Experts predict that using this coal for electricity generation will save $1,5 billion annually.

Infrastructure Developments and Regional Accessibility

New railway projects are also strengthening Pakistan’s infrastructure. Seven new railway stations, close to the Thar mines and major centres such as New Chhor, will significantly increase regional accessibility. These stations will facilitate transportation, enabling increased economic activity and accelerated regional development. These improvements in Pakistan’s railway infrastructure will contribute significantly to the country’s overall economic growth.

Pakistan aims to support its economic growth and modernize its infrastructure through investments in railway transportation. New railway connections will boost both local and regional trade and contribute positively to the economy. With the completion of railway projects, Pakistan will increase transportation efficiency, reduce costs and have a stronger economic structure.
