Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality announced that transportation fees were changed with the decision of the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME). In line with the decision taken by UKOME, new tariffs started to be implemented as of Monday, March 24, while no changes were made to Türkiye's cheapest subscription card.
The Metropolitan Municipality made the following statement: “In order to ensure the sustainability of our urban public transportation services and continue to provide quality service, we would like to share with you that we had to make changes to transportation fees with the decision of UKOME. The increase in electricity costs and personnel costs directly affect the public transportation system. In addition, the increase in vehicle maintenance and repair expenses, spare part costs and general operating costs have made it impossible for transportation services to continue with the current tariffs. Our municipality, which subsidizes transportation with a figure of around 100 million TL every month, had to make this decision in order to ensure the continuity of services. We would like to state that this decision was evaluated with great sensitivity and was planned in a way that would create the least burden on the budgets of our citizens. In the decision taken, no changes were made to the subscription price in order for our students not to suffer, and the cheapest subscription tariff in Türkiye will continue to be applied in Eskişehir. In line with the decision taken by UKOME, the new tariffs will be applied as of March 24. The tariffs have been determined as follows; Eskart full 25 TL, Eskart discounted 12,5 TL, transfer 1,80 TL, virtual Eskart 25 TL, student subscription 250 TL.”
