Reflecting Mercedes-Benz’s electric vision for the future, the new CLA model took its place on stage with its fully electric and hybrid options. Introduced for the first time with the opening speech of Mercedes-Benz Group AG CEO Ola Källenius, the new CLA received great acclaim with its long range, artificial intelligence-supported technology and eye-catching design.
The event was attended by many celebrities from Türkiye, including actor Mert Yazıcıoğlu and social media content producer Mina Ceran, as well as Romeo Beckham, Jeon Somi, WILL.I.AM, Ice Spice, Camilla Cabello and Lucien Laviscount. Singer Tyla took the stage with her impressive performance at the opening show of the event.
Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, commented: “The premiere of the new CLA in Rome, a city as iconic and timeless as Mercedes-Benz itself, was much more than just a car launch. This event symbolises the beginning of a new era for Mercedes-Benz and our customers: the CLA will be the most efficient and intelligent Mercedes we have ever produced. It will be the ‘one-litre car’ of the electric age and will also be available in a highly efficient hybrid version. This model will be the first of many new models we will add to the Mercedes-Benz family.”
“CLASS OF CREATORS”: CREATIVE COLLABORATION WITH THE BRAND NEW CLA
Later in the event, a creative collaboration called “Class of Creators” was announced, featuring four-time GRAMMY-nominated American rapper Ice Spice, Swedish interior designer Gustaf Westman, American fashion designer and artist Colm Dillane (KidSuper), digital gaming platform League of Legends and toy car brand Hot Wheels.
The collaboration aims to combine Mercedes-Benz DNA with the vision of artists to produce innovative content inspired by the all-new CLA. Each collaboration will be represented by a special vehicle artwork and will be presented at different events throughout the year.
A UNIQUE CLA EXPERIENCE
This exclusive invite-only event kicked off with a show inspired by Italy’s vibrant style, cultural richness and aesthetic beauty. After the musical and dance performances, all eyes turned to the event’s real stars: the CLA, set against the glittering Rome night sky, presented to the audience in different versions.
THE NAME IS THE SAME, ALL THE FEATURES ARE AT A HIGHER LEVEL
Designed as the pioneer of the brand’s electric future, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA offers more space, innovation, comfort, intelligence and efficiency. The new CLA is the first vehicle to run entirely on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), making it the smartest Mercedes-Benz yet. The new AI-powered system makes it possible to equip every vehicle with a supercomputer connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. This provides regular remote updates for the most important vehicle functions, including the driver assistance systems. This will keep the CLA up-to-date and always attractive for years to come.
In the all-electric CLA, an innovative 800-volt electrical architecture and new battery chemistries significantly shorten the charging time. The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology (combined energy consumption: 14.1-12.2 kWh/100 km | CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km | CO₂ class: A) can be charged for up to 10 km in 325 minutes and offers a range of up to 792 km. The CLA 350 4MATIC (combined energy consumption: 14.7-12.5 kWh/100 km | combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km | CO₂ class: A) sets itself apart in its class with a range of up to 771 km.
The all-electric new CLA has been designed with sustainability in mind from the inside out, reducing its carbon footprint by 40% across the entire value chain compared to its non-electric predecessor. Thermoplastics use four times more recycled content, 50% of which is post-consumer recycled material. – Every layer of the seat, from the seat cover to the seat foam, substructure and metal holders, contains recycled materials. The floor coverings are also made with Econyl yarn made from 100% recycled material. With additional CO₂ measures in the supply chain and battery charging, these savings can be increased by up to two-thirds.
In addition to its fully electric models, the new CLA will also be available in a hybrid version with 48-volt technology and an electric motor integrated into the transmission. The hybrid version, which will go on sale towards the end of the year, can provide fully electric driving at urban speeds and with power requirements of less than 20 kW.
