Mersin Takes Action to Adapt to Climate Change

Within the scope of the 'Preparation of the Climate Action Plan', one of the activities of the "Take Action for Adaptation to Climate Change" project of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, an online workshop was held. The workshop, moderated by the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM), was attended by public institutions and organizations, universities, non-governmental organizations, provincial directorates and professional chambers in Mersin.

Steps to be taken to make Mersin more resilient to climate change were discussed

The opening speech of the meeting was made by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Head and Project Coordinator Dr. Bülent Halisdemir. In the opening speech, it was emphasized that the aim was to prepare an action plan to increase Mersin's capacity to adapt to climate change. Then, Senior Chief Researcher Dr. Deniz Sarı from TÜBİTAK MAM made a project information presentation. The workshop was divided into sectoral sessions and evaluations were made for "Prioritization of Critical Sectors and Areas" in each session.

The online workshop addressed the steps to be taken to make Mersin more resilient to climate change. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality will continue to work resolutely on combating and adapting to climate change.
