Konya continues to strengthen its transportation infrastructure. Within the scope of the KonyaRay Suburban Line project, important steps are being taken to make transportation within the city more efficient. The renovation work of one of these projects, the Meram Yeniyol Underpass, is nearing completion. The existing bridge is being demolished and a new bridge is being built in its place. After the completion of the work, traffic was reopened with controlled crossings. Drivers can use the underpass with the controlled crossing provided temporarily, but it will start operating at full capacity in a short time.
KonyaRay Commuter Line Project and Urban Transportation
The KonyaRay Commuter Line project will create a major change in urban transportation. Expected to serve approximately 90 thousand passengers daily, KonyaRay will provide uninterrupted and comfortable transportation between industrial zones and organized industrial zones in the Meram, Karatay and Selçuklu districts. Aiming to reduce the traffic problem, which is especially concentrated in the morning and evening hours, this project will make urban transportation more effective and sustainable.
Easier Access to Industrial Zones
KonyaRay will play an important role in worker transportation. By providing more efficient transportation to industrial zones, labor mobility will accelerate. This will also help Konya achieve more dynamic growth in its industrial and commercial sectors. With this project, Konya's transportation infrastructure will be modernized, creating a higher quality and more efficient urban transportation network.
