
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality organized a Digital Twin Meeting in line with the local government approach that focuses on science and technology. The meeting discussed the benefits that digital twin technology can provide in terms of better managing the city's infrastructure, taking precautions against possible disasters, and directing urban planning in a smarter way.
Continuing to undertake important projects within the scope of Smart Urbanism, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality undertakes innovative work in order to make the future of the city safer, more sustainable and more efficient in the light of science and technology.
In this context, the Digital Twin Meeting was organized by the Metropolitan Municipality Smart Urbanism and Information Processing Department. The meeting, held at the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Meeting Hall under the presidency of Deputy Secretary General Ufuk Sekmen, was attended by department heads, directors, SAMPAŞ Holding Chairman of the Board Şekip Karakaya and his delegation.
Speaking at the meeting, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ufuk Sekmen said that they held a consultation meeting with SAMPAŞ regarding Digital Twin and Smart Resilient Cities regarding future work that could be done for Kayseri. Sekmen expressed his hope that the meeting would lead to beneficial decisions to be taken on behalf of Kayseri and thanked the company officials for their participation in the meeting.

SAMPAŞ Holding Board Chairman Şekip Karakaya also noted that Kayseri is one of the leading cities that draws their attention as a company in terms of technological developments. Karakaya said, “Kayseri is a city that has prepared itself for all vital problems that may occur in Kayseri, has been able to take action and knows what it takes to be resilient in many areas, both in terms of property data, zoning data, geography. It was of interest to us. I called the esteemed president and said, ‘Kayseri is a very strategic value for us, we want to work there. We want to do whatever is necessary for this.’ I believe that the work we will do in light of this data will make Kayseri one of the leading cities in Türkiye in this regard, as in many other areas. I hope this work will be beneficial to our city.”
The meeting evaluated the contributions of digital twin technology, which works by digitally copying a physical entity in a virtual environment, including its functionality, features and behavior, and discussed the advantages of this technology in better managing the city's infrastructure, taking precautions against possible disasters and directing urban planning in a smarter way.
The meeting discussed how decision-making processes could be strengthened by creating a digital copy of Kayseri with real-time data analysis, artificial intelligence-supported scenarios and simulations. It was evaluated that thanks to digital twin technology, the city's infrastructure could be better managed, precautions could be taken against possible disasters and urban planning could be directed more intelligently.
These steps taken by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality under the management of Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç to carry Kayseri to a pioneering position in the field of smart urbanism present a great opportunity to secure not only the present but also the future.
