In order to reduce the effects of the climate crisis, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will provide approximately 11 million cubic meters of additional water to the city annually by opening 32 new water wells in Manisa Sarıkız and Göksu regions.
The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality İZSU General Directorate is opening new wells in the city center and surrounding settlements in order to reduce the effects of water shortages caused by global warming. İZSU, which has started working to put 9 water wells into service in the Halkapınar deep wells region, one of the sources that provides water to Izmir, will open 11 new water wells in the Göksu and Sarıkız regions of Manisa. Thus, approximately 32 million cubic meters of additional water will be provided to the city per year.
Water supply of 11 cubic meters per second from XNUMX wells
Stating that İZSU General Directorate continues its investments to provide uninterrupted drinking water to İzmir, İZSU General Manager Gürkan Erdoğan said that they will compensate for the negative picture caused by the drought with new wells to be opened. Erdoğan said, “We will provide 5 liters of water per second to our city from a total of 250 new wells, 6 liters per second from the 750 wells we will open in the Sarıkız wells region and 11 liters per second from the 1000 wells we will open in the Göksu wells region.”
