Air Training Road Overpass Completed in Gaziemir, Izmir

The construction of the bridge on the Gaziemir Air Training Road Vehicle Overpass, which will be implemented by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality with an investment of 60 million liras to solve the traffic problem in the Sarnıç region, has been completed. The bridge, which will provide transportation from Akçay Street to the Sarnıç region via the İZBAN line, will be put into service after the environmental and road arrangements.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to implement investments that will increase the comfort of transportation in the city one by one. The bridge construction of the Air Education Road Vehicle Overpass, which will reduce traffic congestion in the Sarnıç area of ​​Gaziemir and provide safe and uninterrupted traffic flow, has been completed. The overpass, which will ease transportation in Gaziemir on the transportation axis of Adnan Menderes Airport, the Aegean Free Zone and important shopping centers, will create an alternative transportation route by providing a connection from Akçay Street to Sarnıç via the İZBAN line.

A 60 million investment that will breathe new life into Sarnıç traffic

While the final arrangements are being made on the 235-meter-long and 6,5-meter-high bridge, the bridge’s connection roads, sidewalk arrangements and surrounding landscaping work are progressing rapidly. Stating that they have come to an end with the project that was implemented with an investment of 60 million liras, Uğurcan Bilge, Civil Engineer at the Road Superstructure Branch Directorate of the Department of Technical Affairs, said, “Our bridge, which will ease transportation from Akçay Street to Sarnıç, will connect Dokuz Eylül Neighborhood to Menderes Neighborhood. At the same time, we are creating an alternative to the Sarnıç overpass. Our drivers will be able to easily reach the Sarnıç region, especially in the morning and evening hours.”

It will serve Gaziemir for many years.

Bilge, who stated that the overpass was built in line with the disaster-resistant city understanding of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and will serve Izmir for many years, said, “20 bored piles, 38 meters long, were used in the construction of the bridge. The overpass will serve as one way in and one way out. As the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we continue our investments that will breathe new life into city traffic.”
