
IMM continues its routine cleaning work in Istanbul's mosques during the month of Ramadan. A total of 39 mosques, 44 of which are imperial and historical, are undergoing detailed cleaning. IMM also continues maintenance, repair and restoration work in historical tombs and graveyards, which are the spiritual heritage of Istanbul. Protecting the spiritual heritage of Istanbul, IMM has restored 2019 historical graves and graveyards and 610 historical tombs to the value they deserve since 19.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continues its routine mosque cleaning work during the month of Ramadan. In line with the protocol signed between the General Directorate of Foundations, the Presidency of Religious Affairs and IMM, routine maintenance and cleaning work is being carried out in a total of 39 mosques throughout Istanbul, 44 of which are imperial and historical mosques. Continuing its cleaning work throughout the month of Ramadan, IMM has prepared the mosques for the Night of Power.
EXPERT CLEANING TEAM ON DUTY
The team of 116 experts in their fields carried out comprehensive cleaning in the imperial mosques including Fatih Mosque, Süleymaniye Mosque, Nusretiye Mosque, Nuruosmaniye Mosque and Eyüpsultan Mosque. In addition, maintenance and cleaning works are carried out in the three largest new mosques of Istanbul (Büyük Çamlıca Mosque, Ataşehir Mimar Sinan Mosque, Marmara İlahiyat Mosque). As part of these works, comprehensive cleaning work is carried out in the historical mosques every day of the week with appropriate cleaning materials.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF TOMBS AND HAZIRS, WHICH ARE SPIRITUAL HERITAGE
Since 2019, IMM Miras has carried out conservation and restoration projects in almost every corner of Istanbul, protecting hundreds of heritage sites and carrying them into the future. 63 monuments and civil architecture works, 40 public art works, 215 historical fountains, 610 historical graves and cemeteries, and 19 historical tombs were given the value they deserved. 36 new museums and living spaces were added to the city. 983 heritage sites were re-integrated into urban life.
Tombs and cemeteries, which are among the spiritual values of Istanbul, have a special place in the protection works of IMM Heritage. A total of 610 historical graves and cemeteries and 19 mausoleums throughout Istanbul were taken under protection with meticulous works.
