Is Taksim Metro Station Open or Closed? Roads Closed to Traffic in Istanbul

Some metro stations, which were temporarily closed as of March 19, 2025 within the scope of security measures taken by the Istanbul Governorship, have been reopened after evaluations. As of Monday, March 24, 2025, the following stations have started accepting passengers:

  • M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey Metro Line on you Cascade station

  • M1 Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport/Kirazlı Metro Line on you Safety-Fatih station

  • M2 Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro Line on you Partition station

  • F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line

Citizens can use these stations and lines during normal travel hours. It is important to follow Metro Istanbul's official announcements for up-to-date information.

Traffic Closed Roads

The Istanbul Governorship announced that some roads will be closed to traffic between 24-26 March 2025 as part of security measures. The roads and alternative routes that will be closed during this period are as follows: 

  • Fevzipasa Street and all the roads leading to this street

  • Hungarian Brothers Street and connected roads

  • July 15 Martyrs Street

  • Sehzadebasi Street

  • Vezneciler Street

  • Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha Street

  • Ataturk boulevard

  • Beach Kennedy Street (Between Samatya and Sirkeci)

  • Resadiye Street

  • Ragip Gumuspala Street

  • Galata bridge and its surroundings

  • Atatürk Bridge and connected roads

Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use alternative routes, taking into account the traffic density that may occur due to these closures. In addition, choosing public transportation will contribute to making urban transportation more comfortable and faster.
