Recent developments regarding metro services in Istanbul have become a significant topic of curiosity for public transportation users. In line with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governorship, it was announced that some metro stations were temporarily closed between March 19-23.
In particular, the Emniyet-Fatih station on the M1 Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport/Kirazlı Metro Line and the Taksim stations on the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line were temporarily closed, along with all their entrances and exits. In addition, the F1 Taksim-Kabataş The Funicular Line's services were also stopped.
In a statement made by Metro Istanbul, it was reported that metro services on these stations will not be temporarily stopped, but normal services will not start until further notice. In other words, metro services continue at Taksim and Emniyet-Fatih stations, but since the entrances and exits are closed, passengers using these lines cannot enter the stations.
The Istanbul Governorship announced that it took these decisions within the scope of security measures and that metro services will remain closed until March 23. It was also stated that all kinds of meetings, demonstrations and press releases were banned throughout the province between March 19 and 23, and that these measures were taken to ensure security.
Although there is no exact date given for when the metros will open, it is currently known that services at these stations will be paused until March 23. An announcement is expected after this date.
