IMM Opened Sign Language Supported Solution Center

IMM has launched the “Accessible Istanbul” project for deaf, hearing and speech impaired individuals. With the project facilitating access to public services, IMM 153 Solution Centers have started to offer video call services in Turkish Sign Language.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has implemented an important project with the joint contribution of its units and affiliates. The “Accessible Istanbul” service was launched with the cooperation of IMM Press, Publication, Public Relations, Social Services and Information Processing Departments, İSTTELKOM AŞ and İstanbul Senin. Thanks to the service that eliminates a significant obstacle in communication, IMM Solution Center has become more accessible for deaf, hearing and speech impaired individuals. It has been provided the opportunity to submit requests to IMM 153 Solution Center and find solutions to problems by making video calls with personnel who know Turkish Sign Language.

FOR A MORE ACCESSIBLE CITY

The Accessible Istanbul project provides services to deaf, hearing and speech impaired individuals who know Turkish Sign Language through the Istanbul Senin mobile application, the digital platform of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. This digital platform, which accelerates access to public services, provides an inclusive solution and enables everyone in the city to access services more easily.

A SOCIAL BENEFIT-FOCUSED APPLICATION FROM IMM

The sign language supported call center service aims to facilitate access to IMM services that deaf, hearing and speech impaired individuals who know Turkish Sign Language need in their daily lives and to strengthen social equality. It also contributes to the smart city vision by transforming technology into social benefit.

Individuals who want to benefit from this service are asked to apply to ÖZGEM (with a 23 percent and above disability report), which has 40 branches throughout Istanbul. Istanbulites who have completed the registration process and have the report can benefit from the Solution Center services through the Istanbul Senin mobile application.
