Hanoi is working on a major $2,5 billion metro line project to address urban transportation problems. The new metro line, 5 kilometers long, is designed to stretch from the city center to the outskirts. Two kilometers of the line will be elevated and 38,43 kilometers underground.
Metro Line Will Provide Fast and Efficient Transportation
The Metropolitan Railway Board is meticulously supervising the investment preparations for this important project. Metro Line 5 will connect important areas such as Van Cao, Ngoc Khanh, Lang and Hoa Lac. With the construction of this line, various parts of the city will be accessible more quickly and efficiently.
City authorities in Hanoi will collaborate with multiple institutions to ensure the successful progress of the project. The project is aimed to be developed in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner through joint efforts with the Department of Construction, the Urban Planning Institute and the MRB.
Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development
The project supports urban growth by integrating transit-oriented development and landscaping. The construction of the metro line will also contribute to strengthening the city’s overall infrastructure. The planning of metro line 5 is in line with Hanoi’s 2021-2025 targets, and the necessary approvals are expected to be completed by 2025.
Innovative Transportation and Environmental Improvements
With the completion of the metro line, transportation problems in the city will be greatly reduced. It is expected that this line will offer efficient travel to passengers every day with the gradual increase in the number of trips between 25-40 trains. The trains will reach a speed of 120 km/h, but the speed will be limited to 90 km/h in the underground sections. The 3,3-minute intervals between trains are designed to meet the transportation needs of the dense population.
The project also aims to reduce traffic congestion and address environmental pollution in the city. The new metro line will improve Hanoi's urban quality of life and significantly improve the reliability of public transport.
Economic and Ecological Benefits
Hanoi’s new metro line will deliver long-term economic and environmental benefits. By promoting sustainable urban growth and combating traffic and pollution, the project is a significant step towards continuously improving the city’s living standards. The new metro line promises to provide Hanoi residents with a faster and more seamless transportation experience.
