Free Culture and Art Courses Continue in Diyarbakır

The free courses initiated by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality for citizens who want to improve themselves in the field of culture and arts continue.

The Department of Culture and Social Affairs has prepared a full course program for those who want to improve themselves in the field of culture and arts.

The courses offered in a wide range of subjects, from theatre to music, from cinema to visual arts, from language education to folk dances, provide participants with the opportunity to discover and develop their talents.

Art lovers of all ages together

The courses, organized free of charge at the Çand Amed Culture and Congress Center with expert instructors, brought together art lovers of all ages.

Offering the opportunity to receive education in many areas such as performing arts, painting, folk dances, cinema and language, the program aims to contribute to both the personal development of individuals and social culture.

Providing information about the course work, Language Development and Protection Branch Manager Tahir Baykuşak noted that they offer free course services in all culture and art areas within the Department of Culture and Social Affairs at the Çand Amed Culture and Congress Center.

'Courses are offered in many areas'

Referring to the services provided, Baykuşak noted the following: “The services we provide include theater students in the theater field. Our instructors provide service to 35 students during the week and on the weekend. At the same time, our cinema unit provides training in the field of cinema to our citizens who are interested in cinema and focuses on film criticism. In addition, in the field of music, courses are provided in all areas of music from violin to piano, from piano to erbane. These courses are for both children and adults. At the same time, our art instructors in the painting department provide painting courses for adults and children.”

'We found it important to open language courses'

Emphasizing that they attach importance to the city’s multilingualism, Baykuşak said, “The Language Development and Protection Department, which I am the director of, also opens courses for the languages of this city. Courses are given in three languages and two dialects: Kurmanji, Zazaki, Armenian and Syriac. As you know, although they are used very little today, Armenian and Syriac are the ancient languages of this city and we found it especially important to open these courses because they emphasize its multilingualism. The service we will provide to the multilingualism and multiculturalism of this city in this area is valuable to us and we will try to reach the citizens living in this city by developing and strengthening these services even further.”
