Flights between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were suspended in May 2021 due to border disputes. This period began when Kyrgyzstan imposed restrictions on the entry of Tajik citizens following an armed conflict between the two countries. In June 2021, Kyrgyz authorities completely closed the borders with Tajikistan, including air borders.
New Developments and Border Agreement
Following the new border agreement signed by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahman and Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov in the capital Bishkek on March 14, it was decided to resume Dushanbe-Bishkek-Dushanbe flights. This development shows that relations between the two countries have begun to normalize and air transportation has become active again.
