
According to the data of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Market Directorate, 2025 thousand tons of fresh fruits and vegetables were brought to Bayrampaşa and Ataşehir markets in February 177. While the most consumed fruit in Istanbul was orange, tomatoes were at the top of the vegetable category.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Market Directorate announced the February data. In February, a total of 65.062 tons of fruit were brought to Bayrampaşa and Ataşehir markets to meet the fresh fruit needs of Istanbulites. 47.778 tons of this amount reached Bayrampaşa Market and 17.284 tons reached Ataşehir Market.
In the same period, the total amount of fresh vegetables brought to the city was 111.985 tons. 84.866 tons of vegetables entered the Bayrampaşa Market and 27.119 tons of vegetables entered the Ataşehir Market.
MOST PREFERRED ORANGE AND TOMATOES
Among the fruits most preferred by Istanbulites in February, oranges ranked first with 18.179 tons, followed by apples with 10.157 tons, bananas with 8.312 tons, tangerines with 8.177 tons and lemons with 7.249 tons. In the vegetable category, tomatoes ranked first with 21.779 tons, followed by potatoes with 13.892 tons, cabbage with 8.313 tons, carrots with 7.848 tons and cucumbers with 7.741 tons.
