Discovery and Nature Walk on Efeler Road with ÇEKÜL Foundation

ÇEKÜL Foundation is starting a series of walks on the Efeler Road Culture Route in order to spread awareness of nature and volunteering. The walk will be carried out by experienced mountain climbers and nature walkers Bircan Ateş and Serkan Özer, who are ÇEKÜL Foundation volunteers, with the call to 'Volunteer for ÇEKÜL' and will be completed in 5 stages in 5 days. Nature lovers will be able to follow the experience, which will take place in the unique beauties of the Efeler Road, from their social media accounts.

ÇEKÜL Foundation is embarking on a journey of discovery on the Efeler Road Culture Route, which consists of 27 main stages and 1 alternative line, and is 500 km long in total, in order to draw attention to nature and cultural heritage. In this walk, which will be carried out by ÇEKÜL Volunteers, experienced mountaineers and nature walkers Bircan Ateş and Serkan Özer, the traces of nature and history will be followed step by step. The walk, which will start with the Sarıyurt - Bayındır stage on Friday, March 28, will end with Birgi - Ödemiş on Tuesday, April 5, after the first 01 stages.

ÇEKÜL Foundation Secretary General Ilgın Sözen emphasized the importance of the event by saying, “This walk is a call to strengthen the bond we have established with our nature and cultural heritage. We have been working with this awareness for 35 years and we want to make the Efeler Road more visible with the steps of our ÇEKÜL volunteers.”

Sözen said, “We have pioneered with this awareness in many cities to date and continue to do so. The Efeler Road, Culture Route, which is a valuable part of our protection efforts that we carry out in cooperation with local governments at the basin level, was implemented under the leadership of İzmir Governor Dr. Süleyman Elban. We want to make the 500-kilometer Efeler Road Culture Route, which starts from the Bornova district of İzmir, passes over Nif Mountain and Bozdağlar and extends to Kiraz, visible with the steps of ÇEKÜL Volunteers Bircan Ateş and Serkan Özer. This walk, which is also supported by the İzmir Governorship, is a call to strengthen the bond we have established with our nature and cultural heritage. As ÇEKÜL Foundation, we invite everyone who wants to keep these values ​​alive and carry them to the future to volunteer.''

We will walk a 120-kilometer heritage route

ÇEKÜL Volunteer mountaineer and nature hiker Bircan Ateş, who will carry out the Efeler Yolu, Culture Route walk, said, “This is not just a walk; we are building a bridge with the present while following the traces of history.” Ateş made the following call: “We have a five-day journey intertwined with nature and culture ahead of us. We will walk the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th stages of the Efeler Yolu, Culture Route, and walk a 120-kilometer heritage route. We will discover old roads, mountains and plateaus with each step. We will listen to stories on the streets of villages that are hundreds of years old and experience this unique route where nature and culture are intertwined together.
