The Metropolitan Municipality has launched a special theater project to explain sustainable transportation to children in an entertaining way within the scope of the Sustainable Urban Transport Plan (SKUp). The European Union-supported project aims to make children understand the importance of safe and environmentally friendly transportation.
PRIVATE THEATRE PROJECT FROM METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has launched a special theater project to teach children about the environmental impacts of transportation within the scope of the European Union-supported Sustainable Urban Transport Plan (SKUp). Within the scope of the project, children will be informed about bicycle paths, safe walking areas and the advantages of public transport thanks to entertaining scenes and interactive narrations.
TRANSPORTATION AWARENESS IS INCREASING
As part of the project, issues such as traffic congestion, air pollution and safe transportation are being brought to the stage through the eyes of children and in a way they can understand. Following the “Safe Route to School”, “European Mobility Week” and “Car-Free Day” events previously organized within the scope of SKUp, sustainable transportation awareness is now being raised with children’s theater. This special theater play will be staged in selected schools throughout the year and will contribute to children gaining environmentally friendly transportation habits.
SKUP'S VISION WILL BE EXPLAINED IN A FUN LANGUAGE
This special theater play will bring to the stage topics such as the popularization of bicycle use, the importance of safe walking paths and the advantages of public transportation. In this context, interactive scenes that involve the audience will convey how children can adopt sustainable transportation in city life in an entertaining way. SKUp's vision, "A nature-friendly, economical, accessible, smart and uninterrupted transportation network" aims to raise children's awareness of sustainable mobility.
CHILDREN WILL BE AWARE
Project officials state that these theater plays will be staged in designated schools throughout the year. The aim is to spread sustainable transportation culture from an early age by raising children's awareness.
