Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will plant 46 thousand rose seedlings in the city's median strips, intersections and parks. The Parks and Gardens Department, which continues plant production in the Nursery Directorate located in the Yenişehir district, will plant 46 thousand rose seedlings of different types in the city's median strips and intersections this year, in addition to the ones already planted.
10 thousand rose seedlings will be produced
The Department of Parks and Gardens purchased 36 thousand plants of the Yediveren, Muhammediye and Meyland species from abroad this year to transform Diyarbakır into a city of roses.
In addition to the purchasing process, the Nursery and Afforestation Branch Directorate obtained 10 thousand cuttings from the Yediveren, Muhammediye and Meyland type roses in the existing areas by pruning them.
The teams, who put the rose cuttings obtained into production trays to root them, will put 6 thousand roses of different types that have taken root into pots to be used in different parts of the city after approximately 10 months.
Rose seedlings started to meet the soil
The Nursery and Afforestation Branch Directorate started to plant the roses it purchased from abroad this year, in addition to its own production, in different points of Yenişehir, Bağlar, Kayapınar and Sur districts within the scope of the program it determined.
Before the ornamental plants and roses, which are important elements of the landscape area, were planted, the teams worked to make the areas suitable for planting.
36 thousand roses will be planted in different areas
The Department of Parks and Gardens will plant 36 thousand Yediveren, Muhammediye and Meyland roses, which are suitable for the city's climate and nature, on different dates in designated median strips and intersections.
Emphasis will be given to shrub group plants.
Considering that water resources are decreasing day by day with global warming, the Nursery and Afforestation Branch Directorate shapes the plant needs of median strips, intersections and parks accordingly.
The Department of Parks and Gardens will greatly reduce summer and winter seasonal flower production in order to save water.
