Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın attended the Disaster Team Application Training program. Mayor Akın inspected the training area where Balıkesir Fire Department, AFAD, Police, Gendarmerie and UMKE teams were located, together with Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu.
In Balikesir, Urban Search and Rescue Teams conducted practical training on the occasion of March 1-7 Earthquake Week. Fire Department, AFAD, Security, Gendarmerie and UMKE teams attended the trainings held at Balikesir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Martyr Firefighter Kamil Caglar Training Center. The teams conducted a drill together in the area where Governor Ismail Ustaoglu and Balikesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akin also inspected, in order to gain the ability to act together and to ensure coordination.
STRONG COORDINATION FROM TEAMS
In order to raise awareness during Earthquake Week, the Disaster Team Application Training held at the Martyr Firefighter Kamil Çağlar Training Center of the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, and the Disaster Team, which included the Balıkesir Fire Department, conducted a drill to coordinate quickly in the event of a possible earthquake. With this study, which aims to increase the response capacity in the event of a possible disaster, the teams cooperated in technical equipment and emergency communication. The trainings highlighted the skills of search and rescue teams in responding to incidents, detecting hazards, using rescue equipment and also coordinating technical search and rescue incidents.
“WE ARE FULLY READY FOR DUTY AT OUR 43 FIRATİH STATIONS”
Speaking about the training, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Director Nazım Ergelen said, “We conducted a practice drill at the Martyr Firefighter Kamil Çağlar Training Center of our Metropolitan Municipality, where we demonstrated that we can work together with the Gendarmerie, Security, UMKE, AFAD and our own fire departments. During this practice, a scenario was implemented by the teams formed jointly, such as searching for a living creature in a collapsed wreckage and finding it later, determining its physical condition and delivering it to the health teams. During the implementation of this scenario, it was a useful activity in terms of showing our protocol and the equipment, equipment and personnel unity throughout the province. When we look at the equipment here, we showed that all units can take joint action with their own vehicles in the event of any incident. As Balıkesir Fire Department, we are assigned to fire, rescue and all kinds of search activities in 43 stations throughout the province.”
