China marked a significant historical milestone by sending three advanced diesel locomotives to Mozambique on March 10. With this delivery, CRRC Ziyang Co. has once again demonstrated China’s engineering innovation and strength in locomotive manufacturing while expanding its influence in the African market.
Exports That Increase Mozambique’s Railway Capacity
CRRC Ziyang significantly strengthens the infrastructure of Mozambique with its SDD1 units, specially developed for the challenging railway demands of this market. These locomotives are customized to operate efficiently in Africa’s unique operational environments.
This delivery also marks the first time Chinese companies have taken a historic step by providing state-of-the-art internal combustion engine locomotives for rail transport in Africa. SDD1 Locomotives Packed with Innovative Features
The SDD1 units combine CRRC Ziyang’s engineering expertise and designs for the harsh conditions of Africa. These locomotives stand out with their lightweight construction and efficient cooling systems, as well as being equipped with modular air intake units and an intelligent control system. These features enable the locomotives to be monitored in real time and increase safety.
The new slotted shutter structure increases the reliability and durability of the locomotives, enabling them to operate efficiently in both passenger transport and freight shunting duties.
Strong Position in the African Market
CRRC Ziyang has provided reliable locomotives to the African market for 24 years and serves about 20 African countries. Countries such as Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo prefer CRRC Ziyang because of their trust in this company.
Today, the company has exported more than 34 locomotives to 1.200 countries around the world, leading China's diesel locomotive exports, accounting for more than 50% of total exports of these products. This success demonstrates CRRC Ziyang's strength and leadership in the international market.
