Alstom to Deliver 30 Electric Locomotives to Slovenia

Alstom has signed a new agreement that reinforces its leadership in smart and sustainable mobility. The agreement with Slovenian Railways Freight Transport (SŽ-Tovornipromet) aims to make freight transport in the region more efficient and environmentally friendly. Alstom’s state-of-the-art electric locomotives will be used in many Central and Eastern European countries, including Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia. This step aims to make a major contribution to rail transport in the region.

Alstom's State-of-the-Art Locomotives and Their Contributions to Freight Transportation

“Alstom’s state-of-the-art electric locomotives will contribute significantly to the country’s sustainable mobility journey. The new locomotives will boost freight operations in Slovenia thanks to their energy efficiency and ease of maintenance,” said Frederique Kalb, General Manager of Alstom Central and Eastern Europe Cluster. Thanks to the energy efficiency and long-term ease of maintenance of these locomotives, rail transport in Slovenia will become more efficient and sustainable.

Traxx Locomotives and Efficiency

As part of the contract, Alstom’s Traxx brand locomotives will be delivered to Slovenian Railways. These locomotives are capable of pulling very heavy trains and will work in harmony with Slovenian Railways’ existing locomotive fleet. One of the most striking features of the Traxx locomotives is that they are designed for cross-border freight transport in Europe. Freight transport will ensure optimum efficiency and safety even when crossing borders between different countries.

Alstom’s Traxx locomotives have a flexible design. They are based on a modular platform approach to suit single or multi-country freight and passenger transport. They are also available in a variety of configurations, including AC, DC and multi-system, making them even more practical to use.

Alstom's Global Leadership

Alstom is not only a manufacturer of advanced locomotives in the rail transport sector, but also a global leader in maintenance. More than 2000 Alstom locomotives have been ordered since 6.000 and are in service in Europe, as well as in Asia, North America and Africa. Alstom maintains more than 2.450 locomotives worldwide. In addition, 70% of the ERTMS-equipped trains in Europe have been supplied with Alstom’s ETCS on-board technology.

Investing in the Future: Smart and Sustainable Mobility

This agreement between Alstom and SŽ-Tovornipromet will not only increase the efficiency of rail transport, but will also contribute to the expansion of sustainable transport. The technologies and locomotives provided by Alstom will strengthen the rail transport networks in the region, reduce carbon emissions and provide more efficient solutions to future transport needs. This development will be recorded as an important step in the field of smart and sustainable mobility.
