'Horsepower' Exhibition Catalogue Meets Readers

The catalogue of the “Horse Power” exhibition hosted by the Rahmi M. Koç Museum has met with readers. The catalogue, with a foreword by Rahmi M. Koç, traces the traces of the horse in art and engineering from the 2nd century BC to the present day, while offering the opportunity to discover the transformation of the concept of “horse power” and the automobile in industrial history together.

The catalogue of the “Horse Power” exhibition, specially prepared by the Rahmi M. Koç Museum for its 30th anniversary and opening its doors on November 27, 2024, has met with the reader. The catalogue prepared by the Rahmi M. Koç Museum takes readers on a journey through the history of the automobile while also revealing the place of horses in our culture.

The catalogue, whose project coordinator is Rahmi M. Koç Museum General Manager Mine Sofuoğlu, consists of two volumes: Automobile Stories from the Rahmi M. Koç Museum and Horse Figures from the Rahmi Rahmi M. Koç Collection.

The volume Horse Power – Horse Figures from the Rahmi M. Koç Collection, presented with the subtitle Horse: The Symbol of Power, Might, and Dominance, was prepared for publication by exhibition curator Serra Kanyak. In addition to information on the horse figures in the exhibition, the book also includes articles on the place of the horse in cultural history.

The Horsepower – Automobile Stories from the Rahmi M. Koç Museum volume presents the place of the automobile in the history of industry, starting from the transition from the four-horsepower to the four-wheel drive, with articles written by valuable figures. Information on the automobiles and models in the exhibition is explained in detail.

Designed by Yapı Kredi Publications and presented in Turkish and English, the catalogue was translated by Feyza Howell and edited by Korkut Erdur. The exhibition catalogue is currently only available in the Museum store.
