DEBUSSY AND STRAUSS IN THE FIRST PART

The concert will begin with Claude Debussy’s “Prelude to Pan’s Afternoon.” Inspired by the poem of the same name by Mallarmé, one of the important poets of French literature, this prelude is known for Debussy’s elegant musical approach to nature and imaginary scenes. The work reflects the composer’s innovative style in orchestral writing. In the first part, Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto No. 1 in E flat Major, Op. 11 will also be performed. Written by Strauss when he was only 18 years old, this concerto reveals the young composer’s brilliant orchestral language and strong melodic lines. The concerto will be performed by Bora Demir, a horn player who has achieved worldwide success. Demir has already achieved the success of sharing the same stage with prestigious ensembles and important conductors such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra at a young age.

CHAPTER TWO WITH SHOSTAKOVICH

In the second part of the concert, Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 in F minor, Op. 10 will be presented to music lovers. Completed by the composer at the age of 19, this symphony represents Shostakovich's first major breakthrough in his career. Reflecting a young composer's sense of humor, innovative orchestration skills, and respect for traditional themes, the work combines modern and classical textures.
