Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci made important statements about the “Steel Dome” project, which was developed to increase Turkey’s air defense capacity. İkinci stated that the project will be an integrated air defense system supported by artificial intelligence and machine learning, and said, “We are working with all our might to have it on the field as soon as possible.”
Steel Dome Project: Integrated Air Defense System
The Steel Dome is being designed as an integrated air defense system that brings together various products from Turkey's defense industry ecosystem. Important organizations such as TÜBİTAK, ASELSAN and MKE are working together on the project. Roketsan is forming the striking force of the project and undertaking the production of missile and weapon systems.
Layered Defense: From SUNGUR to SİPER
The system aims to create an air defense network covering an area from 0 kilometers to 150 kilometers with the SİPER family, starting with SUNGUR at the lowest level. Thanks to this layered structure, it is planned to provide effective defense against threats at different ranges and altitudes.
Defense Powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Steel Dome will be supported by artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, enabling threats to be detected and eliminated more quickly and effectively. These advanced technologies will increase the effectiveness of the system in dynamic and complex threat environments.
ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System: New Shield Against Drone Threats
The ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System (DWS), which is part of the project, offers an effective solution against drone threats in particular. This system, developed by ROKETSAN, will protect critical military facilities and government institutions from drone attacks. ALKA stands out with its detection radar, which can track multiple targets simultaneously and defend against swarm drone attacks.
Defense Industry Cooperation: ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE and MKE
The Steel Dome Project is being carried out through the joint efforts of Turkey’s leading defense industry organizations such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE and MKE. This cooperation aims to develop the project with national and local resources and to significantly increase Turkey’s air defense capacity.
The Steel Dome Project stands out as an important step in Turkey’s air defense strategy. This integrated system, supported by artificial intelligence and machine learning, aims to make the country’s airspace safer.
