High Speed Train Line in Konya to Be Closed for 3 Days

The High Speed Train (YHT) line, which is heavily used by citizens in Konya, will be moved to new rails as part of the improvement work in the transportation infrastructure. For this reason, it was announced that the line will be closed for 10 days on March 11, 13 and 2025, 3. The work to be done aims to make significant contributions to Konya's transportation infrastructure.

Alternative Routes and Routing Arrangements

Due to the construction of Konya's Meram Bridge, the existing line will be redirected to the additional line for Blue and freight trains. During this work, the High Speed Train line will be closed, so alternative routes will be used. Temporary arrangements will be made for the transportation of YHT passengers on Monday, March 10, Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 13.

KonyaRay and Other Railway Infrastructure Investments

Within the framework of KonyaRay projects and other railway infrastructure investments, it is planned to add innovations to the transportation network within the city. These projects will ensure that Konya's transportation system becomes more efficient and modern in the long term.

Train Traffic and Temporary Connections

According to the statement made by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD), temporary connections will be provided for YHT and freight trains due to improvement works on conventional lines. Following the temporary closure of the line due to ongoing construction work under the Meram Bridge, necessary arrangements will be made to reroute the trains. In addition, all lines between Selçuklu and Konya will be closed to train traffic on March 10-12, 2025, and passenger transportation will end at Selçuklu Gar.

The following statements were made in the statement made by the Turkish Republic State Railways (TCDD) regarding the issue:

"Within the scope of “Construction of Additional Line, Infrastructure, Superstructure, Engineering Structures and Underpass Extension and Electrification Construction Work on the Konyaray Route”, for which the site delivery was made on 28.04.2023, the works continue under the responsibility of our Enterprise and 49% progress has been achieved.

Due to the aforementioned constructions, Conventional Line-3 between Horozluhan and Konya Meram Station is currently closed and navigation in this region (Freight Trains and Konya Blue Train) is provided via YHT-2.

Within the scope of the manufacturing, there was a need to organize the current train traffic so that the Meram Bridge under the YHT lines could be demolished and rebuilt and catenary assembly-disassembly manufacturing could be carried out between Km 0+325-1+920.

During the demolition and reconstruction works under the Meram Bridge YHT lines, in order for freight trains and Konya Mavi Eskpresi trains to continue their journey, a temporary connection will be made between Selçuklu-Konya Gar at Km YHT 211+000 from YHT Line-2 to Conventional Line-3, and the trains will be able to pass to Conventional Line-3. The M5 switch between Line-6 and Line-12 in Konya Gar will be removed, and with the completion of the extension of Conventional Line-3 in Konya Gar, which will be made within the scope of the Konyaray Contract, it is planned to enter Konya Gar Line-5.

In this context, starting from 10.03.2025 for a period of 3 months until 10.06.2025, I kindly request/request that all lines between Selçuklu-Konya be closed to train traffic between 1-3/10/12 due to the necessary line displacement operations so that Konya Mavi and freight trains can be connected to Line-03 and continue during the construction of the said Meram Bridge as indicated in the schematic provided in Annex-2025 and mentioned above."
