Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, on the one hand, is taking important steps in public transportation for more comfortable and accessible transportation, while on the other hand, it is working to maximize passenger safety. In this context, a fire drill was held in order to increase the level of preparedness against possible fires on the Bursaray line and to strengthen the coordination and cooperation of BURULAŞ and emergency teams. In the drill, which was held at 02.00:XNUMX at night, a fire broke out in the tunnel between Osmangazi-Şehreküstü Stations as per the scenario.
While the wagon was out of service due to the fire, the driver immediately contacted the center and reported the situation. Upon receiving the news, all relevant institutions were quickly informed and the management of the incident was coordinated through the RS Control Center. In the drill carried out with the participation of BURULAŞ AKUT, Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, AFAD and UMKE teams, the safe evacuation of the passengers and fire extinguishing efforts were started after the power on the line was cut. Later, the injured were removed from the wagon on stretchers and the drill was successfully completed.
“We care about safety as much as comfort in transportation”
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey said that transportation is as important as being comfortable and accessible and safe. Stating that they take care to ensure that teams are both equipped and ready against possible disasters, Mayor Mustafa Bozbey said, “BursaRay is one of the systems that carry the greatest burden in urban public transportation in Bursa. We care about safety as much as comfort in transportation. For this reason, a comprehensive drill was carried out with the participation of BURULAŞ, Fire Department, AFAD and UMKE teams. Evaluations will be made in line with the observations and findings obtained from the drill. We will continue our training regularly. In future drills, we will continue our preparations by applying more complex scenarios and improved methods in light of the experiences gained.”
