The regional competitions within the scope of the “MEB International Gastronomy Festival and Cooking Competition” organized among students studying in the food and beverage services field of vocational and technical secondary education institutions with the mission of preserving the traditional flavors of Turkish cuisine and bringing them together with world cuisines have begun. After the first stage in Kayseri and the competitions in 15 gastronomy regions are completed, the grand finale will be held in Istanbul on April 15-22.
The regional competitions within the scope of the festival organized by the Ministry of National Education will continue in a total of fourteen different gastronomy regions, including Konya, Antalya, Adana, Aydın, Denizli, Balıkesir, Gaziantep, İstanbul, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Bolu, Erzurum, Rize and Van, after Kayseri.
At the festival, a total of 81 teams, five of which are special needs teams, from 408 provinces will showcase their skills in the regional qualifiers that will last until February 28, 2025.
The event, organized under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education, in cooperation with the Turkish Hoteliers Association (TÜROB) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), offers students the opportunity to showcase the skills they have acquired through vocational and technical education, while also presenting them with the opportunity to showcase the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine and increase their awareness of world cuisines.
The competition brings together cultural culinary heritage with world cuisines, providing an opportunity for teachers and students in the field of food and beverage services in vocational and technical secondary education institutions to demonstrate their mastery of culinary arts.
