Fuel Support without Special Consumption Tax for Maritime Transportation
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the Special Consumption Tax-free fuel application, which was initiated on January 1, 2004, covers marine vessels registered in the Turkish International Ship Registry or the National Ship Registry, and included the following statements in his statement:
“Ships that exclusively carry cargo and passengers on the cabotage line, commercial yachts, service and fishing vessels benefit from the SCT-free fuel application. Thanks to this support, costs in maritime transportation have been reduced, the competitiveness of our sector has been increased, and our fishing sector has also received significant support.”
2024 thousand tons of SCT-free fuel support provided to the sector in 349
Emphasizing that the sector will be supported significantly in 2024, Uraloğlu said, “As of 2024, we have delivered 349 thousand tons of SCT-free fuel and provided a total of 3,9 billion liras of SCT support in this context.”
Maritime Transport and Fishing Supported
Uraloğlu drew attention to the benefits of the application to the sector and made the following assessments:
“Thanks to the SCT-free fuel support, maritime transportation is increasing, while sector costs are decreasing significantly. With this application, which also provides a great advantage for our fishermen, their stay at sea and fishing times are extended, while our citizens are less affected by fluctuations in oil prices. Our application will continue to be a strong incentive for the sector.”
