Strict Control on School Buses: 12 Procedures Implemented

Minister Yerlikaya, who stated that school bus vehicles were involved in a total of 2024 fatal and injury accidents in 674, said, “With the start of the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, inspections have been increased by our Police and Gendarmerie traffic teams throughout the country in order to ensure that students travel safely on school buses. We continue our inspections intensively in order to prevent accidents and ensure traffic safety.”

Announcing that the Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams inspected 30 million 6 thousand 2025 vehicles between January 3 and February 145, 753, Yerlikaya said the following:

“A total of 48 drivers were prosecuted for using devices with light or sound warning signs (strobes) by attaching them to vehicles that are not permitted by law. A total of 138 vehicles/drivers were prosecuted, including 335 who committed speed violations, 25 who did not have periodic inspections, 496 who did not use seat belts, 25 who used vehicles without a driver’s license, and 701 who did not have compulsory financial liability insurance.”
