Russia Unveils New Air Defense System Krona-E

Kalashnikov Group, one of the leading companies in the Russian defense industry, will introduce its new short-range air defense system Krona-E for the first time at the IDEX 17 fair to be held in Abu Dhabi from 21 to 2025 February 2025. This prestigious event will bring together important players in the defense industry from around the world, and Krona-E will take the stage as one of the air defense solutions with the latest technology.

Design and Features of Krona-E

Krona-E was developed to protect sensitive areas, especially strategic facilities, urban areas, critical infrastructures and military bases, against air threats. The system, which offers an effective solution against the increasing number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other air threats in modern battlefields, has an integrated air defense mechanism equipped with high-precision radar and automatic target detection capabilities.

According to the Kalashnikov Group's statement, the main objective of the Krona-E is to prevent air attacks, which are increasingly common in modern warfare. In this context, the system has a great advantage, especially in neutralizing medium-class unmanned aerial vehicles.

Integrated Defense System

Krona-E is an integrated air defense system formed by the combination of detection, control and mobile combat vehicles or fixed combat modules. The system connects all its components in an automatic network, allowing for rapid and effective response to threats. Thanks to this advanced integration, Krona-E offers flexible use in various military operations and critical defense missions.

Superior Destruction Capability with 9M340 and 9M333 Missiles

The destructive power of the Krona-E is based on two different missile systems, the 9M340 and 9M333. According to the statement made by Army Recognition, these missiles are designed to offer high accuracy and effective strike capability especially against UAVs and other aircraft.

  • 9M340 Missile: It was developed to target more mobile and difficult to prevent enemy elements. It can hit targets with high precision thanks to its advanced guidance systems.
  • 9M333 Missile: It offers a strong defense against air elements that threaten critical facilities. Designed to be compatible with modern war scenarios, this missile provides flexibility against different types of threats.

Operational Resilience and Future Perspective

Krona-E is a system developed to operate in complex environments where multiple air threats may arise simultaneously. Equipped with the latest radar and sensor technologies, the system stands out from its competitors thanks to its fast reaction time and precision target destruction capability.

Considered one of the new generation air defense solutions of the Russian defense industry, Krona-E is likely to attract great attention from industry experts at IDEX 2025. This new technology from the Kalashnikov Group could play an important role in the defense strategies of many countries in the future by providing effective protection against air threats on modern battlefields.
