Public Transportation Prices Increased in Ankara! Full Tickets are 26 Lira, Student Tickets are 13 Lira

Public transportation fees in Ankara have been increased. In the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) meeting, the full ticket price, which is currently 21 TL, has increased by 23,8% to 26 TL.

Discount Cards Are Also Going to Increase in Price

The decision to increase the prices was not limited to full-price tickets, but also rearranged student, 60-65 age and other discount card tariffs. In this context, student tickets were increased by 23,8%, rising to 13 TL.

Uncertainty in Private Public Buses

Uncertainty continues regarding private public buses, which have an important place in urban transportation. Previously, it was claimed that support payments to private public bus operators were cut due to the debts of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to the Social Security Institution (SGK), and therefore it was announced that 1-60 age and student cards would not be valid on these vehicles as of February 65. However, as a result of the negotiations, it was announced that this decision was postponed until February 15.

Passengers' Reactions

This increase in public transportation fees is causing concern, especially among students and fixed-income citizens. It is thought that increasing transportation costs will make daily living expenses even more difficult. Especially individuals who use public transportation frequently will have to reconsider their budgets.
