
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay made important statements regarding the Konya Rail Suburban Line Project and the new tram line to be brought to the city. It was stated that the projects will strengthen Konya's transportation infrastructure and make urban transportation easier.
New Tram Line: 17 km, 23 Stations
Mayor Altay touched on the details of the new tram line to be brought to Konya. The project will be 17 kilometers long and consist of 23 stations. It was stated that this line will connect important areas such as Yazır District, Beyhekim Hospital, Barış Avenue and the stadium to the rail system. Mayor Altay also announced that the project was being carried out in cooperation with the World Bank and that it will be carried out with a budget of approximately 100 million Euros. Construction of the tram line is planned to start this year and be completed in 2027.
Restoration of Existing Trams
Within the scope of the project, it was announced that the trams to be used in the construction of the new line will be the existing trams. President Altay stated that restoration work has begun on the old trams and their technical problems have been resolved. It was emphasized that these trams, especially their air conditioning problems, have been resolved and they have been made more efficient.
Rail Suburban Line Project
Another important transportation infrastructure to be added to Konya will be the Ray Suburban Line. Mayor Altay stated that this line will also significantly improve Konya's transportation system. It was stated that the Konya Ray Suburban Line will complete the existing transportation network and enrich the public transportation options within the city.
These projects will be the beginning of significant developments in Konya's transportation infrastructure and will provide long-term transportation convenience to the city.
