
Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, which has accelerated its smart urbanism, science and technology studies, received an award at the TÜBİTEM Summit. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality was deemed worthy of the 'Long-Term Effort' award with Kayseri Science Center at the Turkey Science and Technology Centers Summit (TÜBİTEM 2025).
The work of Kayseri Science Center, operating under the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, which continues to implement smart urbanism projects that are in line with the requirements of the age and centered on science and technology under the management of Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, was crowned with an award.
Kayseri Science Center, which hosts science and technology enthusiasts within the Anatolian Wonderland of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, received the 'Long-Term Effort' award at the 4th TÜBİTEM Summit held at the Kocaeli Congress Center in cooperation with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and TÜBİTAK.
The TÜBİTEM Summit, which aims to popularize and develop science and technology in Turkey, bring together public and private sector stakeholders and develop their relations with each other, was held in Kocaeli on February 14–15, 2025. The summit was attended by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Governor İlhami Aktaş, as well as Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Zekeriya Coştu, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Smart Urbanism and Information Processing Department Head Abdullah Avan, political party representatives, institution managers, industrialists, Astronaut Tuva Cihangir Atasever, academics, teachers and students.
Speaking at the 4th Turkey Science and Technology Centers Summit, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır emphasized the importance of science centers by emphasizing a strong Turkey that produces technology. TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın also made speeches at the program.
Following the speeches, the ceremony proceeded to present awards to science centers that implemented the most successful projects of the year in 7 different categories. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, which serves science enthusiasts with the Kayseri Science Center, which hosted 2024 thousand 134 visitors in 670, was deemed worthy of the award in the “Long-Term Effort” category, and the award was received by Abdullah Avan, Head of the Smart Urbanization and Information Processing Department of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, from Minister Kacır.
In addition, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır presented plaques to Şahinbey Municipality Science Center in the category of 'Science Center Organizing the Most Workshop Activities', Canik Özdemir Bayraktar Discovery Campus in the category of 'Bringing Village Schools and Science Together', Bilim Erzurum in the category of 'Science and Society Activities', Müzeyyen Erkul Gaziantep Science Center in the category of 'Effective Science Communication', Konya Science Center in the category of 'Innovative Applications' and Kocaeli Science Center in the category of 'Science Stage'.
