Kocaeli Fire Department has added a new one to its nature search and rescue training and drill. Teams are improving themselves to be ready for possible incidents at any time.
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department continues its training to be prepared at all times for possible incidents. In this context, Kocaeli Fire Department conducted “Search and Rescue Training in Nature”.
SEARCH AND RESCUE DRILL IN NATURE
Kocaeli Fire Department continues its training throughout the year to be ready for possible incidents. In this context, “Search and Rescue Training in Nature” was held in order to develop the technical and skill capabilities of fire department personnel. Kocaeli Fire Department intervention personnel participated in the training held in Kuzuyayla location to increase the emergency aid skills and practices of the personnel in disaster response.
COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATIONAL CONTENT
In the Nature Search and Rescue Training, topics such as the deployment process, GPS usage, geographical coordinate system, finding one's way in the field, map knowledge, avalanche search techniques, use of avalanche probe, creating a station with digging and snow plate, creating an anchor point with a snow bollard, and transferring a casualty with a SCED stretcher were covered. The training was given by Kocaeli Fire Department Directorate Fire Training Unit Chief Recep Yayla.
SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING IN NATURE
At the end of the training, the rescue exercise was carried out. In the exercise carried out as per the scenario, a person being trapped under an avalanche and being rescued in the Kartepe Kuzuyayla location was recreated. Accordingly, the Kocaeli Fire Department search and rescue team, which located the person trapped under the avalanche as a result of searches on the mountainside, pulled the injured person out from under the snow with the safety systems and rescue equipment created. In the exercise, an evacuation operation was carried out from the rugged mountainside and the person who was rescued was later brought to the health teams by the fire department personnel.
FIRE DEPARTMENT IS READY FOR ANY EVENT
The in-service training provided to the current personnel aims to provide more effective intervention in possible emergencies. The training provided by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department is repeated at certain intervals throughout the year, and the aim of the training is to keep the technical knowledge of the fire department response personnel alive and to be ready for every possible rescue scenario.
