Kayseri Aims to Increase Geothermal Potential in Erciyes

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç stated that they aim to increase the potential of Erciyes and make it a center of attraction that can be used for 12 months, and said, “We are holding the second tender on March 10 regarding geothermal, we are waiting for the flow rate and temperature of the water.”

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality's hot water drilling works, which are carried out to associate Mount Erciyes with thermal tourism and to evaluate this potential, continue at full speed.

While the hot water drilling works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality continue uninterruptedly, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç announced another piece of good news to the members of the widespread and local press working in the city, whom he gathered at the Erciyes Ski Center.

Reminding that hot water was found at around 36 degrees in previous years, Mayor Büyükkılıç said, “Last year, we put one of our wells into operation and found hot water. This year, on March 10, we are holding our second geothermal well tender. Hopefully, an approach with more flow and temperature is foreseen here.”

Büyükkılıç emphasized that they will make Erciyes a center of attraction that can be used 12 months a year, and said:

“Our tender and project for the distribution to our hotels for the next season are ready. I believe that it will make a great economic contribution to our city in terms of a more efficient service that extends over 12 months and ensuring the occupancy rate of hotels in the summer season. You come to Kayseri from Istanbul in 1 hour, and you reach Erciyes in 20 minutes with our highway-like road. We would also like to thank our Minister Mehmet Özhaseki for the work he has done.”
