Hyundai Motor Group Expands Test and R&D Centers in Europe

Hyundai Motor Group is strengthening its leading role as an innovator and driver of change in the automotive industry by expanding its research and development (R&D) facilities in Europe by over 25.000 square meters.

The Group will further develop its high-performance models by expanding its existing test centre at the Nürburgring, renowned as the world's toughest race track. In addition to high-performance models, it will continue to strategically invest in sustainable mobility and future expansion.

Hyundai has introduced very important models to the automotive industry at the Nürburgring Test Center, which it first opened in 2011 for durability tests. This center, which also played a significant role in the brand's performance models becoming very popular in a short time, has also contributed to the innovation of other internal combustion and fully electric Hyundai models. This latest expansion at the Nürburgring increases the group's capacity with an additional 834 square meters of state-of-the-art test facilities. New workshop areas, special laboratories and high-voltage electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be added to the center, while a wheel noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) dynamometer, advanced chassis and powertrain systems will also be featured in their most advanced form. These devices are used to simulate and evaluate vehicle performance under various conditions without the need for road tests.

The facility will focus on developing EVs, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment and electrification technologies. The HMETC Test Center aims to provide customized solutions to meet the changing needs of customers, especially in the European market.
