With the purchase guaranteed Goose Breeding initiated with the support of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, producers started to show interest in this field. The geese produced and slaughtered in Ordu under the leadership of the Metropolitan Municipality are now on the menus of the leading restaurants of Ordu.
The agricultural supports initiated by Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler with the slogan of 'Self-Sufficient City' when he took office in 2019 continue unabated. In addition to the supports, the 'purchase guarantee' of the Metropolitan Municipality, which protects every value produced, both gives confidence to producers and encourages production in new areas. In this context, geese raised in Ordu are purchased by the Metropolitan Municipality and made ready for sale after the procedures carried out in the Poultry Slaughterhouse.
THE NEW FLAVOR OF ORDU RESTAURANTS: GOOSE MEAT
Following the interest shown by businesses in Ordu in the geese purchased by the Metropolitan Municipality, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality had recently provided training to business chefs in order to include goose meat in food menus and to make it properly. Under the auspices of the Metropolitan Municipality, expert masters had explained the cooking and presentation techniques of goose meat to business chefs in different districts of Ordu.
SOLD OUT IN HALF AN HOUR
Thereupon, a restaurant operating in the Fatsa district began to include goose meat in its menu. The business, which first included goose meat in its menu once a week, attracted great interest from the first day. The meals prepared for 50-60 people were sold out in half an hour.
PRESIDENT GÜLER: “WE HAVE CREATED A NEW ECONOMY IN ORDU”
Among those who tasted goose meat, which was offered for the first time on restaurant menus in Ordu, was Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, who pioneered the spread of goose farming in Ordu.
Sharing his thoughts about goose breeding and goose meat, which is now offered on restaurant menus, Mayor Güler said that they brought an important product to Ordu.
Stating that they have created a new economy, President Güler said:
“Ordu made a significant move in terms of goose. Its production increased and we established a slaughterhouse. Now, new dishes and new recipes are being created in our province regarding goose. Currently, dishes are being made based on goose tiridi. We are not content with this and we are also sending geese to Kars. We have brought a new taste and flavor to Ordu. The business has decided to make goose meat every Saturday. We think it will continue regularly from now on. We also tasted the goose meat today. It got full marks from us. This product will also be a source of income. In this way, we have created a new economy.”
CHEF YÜKSEK: “GOOSE MEAT SOLD OUT IN HALF AN HOUR”
Hasan Yüksek, the chef of the restaurant business in Fatsa, stated that they added goose meat to the restaurant menu and it was very popular from the first day.
Thanking the Metropolitan Municipality for bringing this product to Ordu, Yüksek said, “With the support of the Metropolitan Municipality, goose farming started in Ordu. We thought about it. We received training on goose meat dishes through the Metropolitan Municipality. Now, for the first time, we added goose tirid to our menu and offered it to our customers. We received positive reactions from everyone who ate it. I hope we continue to make all the people of Ordu taste this flavor. I would like to thank the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality for its contributions. Today, on our first day, we prepared a tirid for 50-60 people. Our food was sold out in half an hour. For now, we can make it once a week, every day depending on supply and demand.”
1-4 TYPES OF INCOME ARE PROVIDED FROM 5 GOOSE
On the other hand, producers in goose farming earn a large amount of income from the sale of hatching eggs, chicks, broiler geese and goose feathers. While goose meat and goose liver are quite popular in the food sector, goose feathers stand out as a valuable product used in the textile industry.
