Erciyes Ski Resort, managed by Erciyes Inc., Turkey's first destination management company operating under Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, will host the International Erciyes Snow Sculpture Festival and Symposium. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç inspected the area where the festival will take place and wished the staff preparing for the festival good luck.
The International Erciyes Snow Sculpture Festival and Symposium will be held at Erciyes Ski Resort between 17-24 February 2025.
Snow will be transformed into a work of art in the event organized by Kayseri Erciyes Inc. with the support of Kayseri Governorship and Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality.
Sculptor artists from Turkey, Germany, Italy, Belarus and Iran will participate in the Snow Sculpture Festival, which will be held between February 17-24.
During the festival, snow sculpture artists will create animated characters from 1 snow blocks, 3 meters high and 3 meters wide, for 10 week.
Ski enthusiasts and guests will be able to see the artists' works up close in the area next to the sled area in the Erciyes Tekir Kapı region.
Close Monitoring of Festival Area Works by Büyükkılıç
Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, who closely follows all kinds of competitions and organizations held in Erciyes, inspected the area where the festival will take place and wished the personnel preparing for the festival success.
After his examinations, President Büyükkılıç made statements at the festival area, noting that Erciyes continues to prepare the environment for different events, and said, “Our ski resort is full, sparkling, and lively. We are trying to appeal to the tastes of our guests both visually and in terms of receiving ski services by preparing the ground for different events in this safe center of ours. Right now, works of art will emerge, sculptures will be made as if they were making snowmen, and a work will be carried out here by 3 teams, with our prestigious artists and instructors coming from both national and international levels, with an understanding that will introduce the symbols of our city. We are starting on Monday. Then, our works here will be opened to the appreciation of people during the ski season.”
Büyükkılıç thanked those who contributed and said, “We will both leave a mark on memories and enjoy it. We invite our friends to see these works of art, just as we invited them to the kart motor competition to be held in Kayseri on March 15-16. Our Kayseri is beautiful in winter, in summer, in spring, and with its gastronomy, it is beautiful. We wish the work to be beneficial, thank you for your efforts.”
“10 Sculpture Artists Will Come from Abroad with Their Assistants”
Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department Academician, Symposium Organization Committee President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Yılmaz stated that Erciyes is one of the leading ski resorts and said the following:
“This will be our second International Snow Sculpture Symposium on Mount Erciyes. The works we will do in this symposium will be a more professional version of the snow sculptures we know in our daily lives. In other words, I think that this work, which will bring such an artistic activity to life in addition to skiing and sports activities, will be an opportunity for Erciyes Ski Center to have a more cultural environment. 10 sculpture artists will come from abroad with their assistants. We invite all our guests who come here to participate in this cultural environment. We will carry out our work between February 17-24. I hope that this work, which Erciyes A.Ş. has carried out in partnership with the governor's office and the metropolitan municipality, will be beneficial to Kayseri.”
Erciyes A.Ş. Board Chairman Hamdi Elcuman and Erciyes A.Ş. General Manager Zafer Akşehirlioğlu also accompanied Mayor Büyükkılıç during his inspection of the festival area.
