Elazığ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO) President İdris Alan made important statements on the anniversary of the major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023. Underlining that the Logistics Base Center in Elazığ should be established as soon as possible, Alan also touched on the aid and housing construction process provided by the state after the earthquake.
Meaningful Messages on the Anniversary of the Earthquake
In his statement, İdris Alan stated that after a year passed since the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, the state quickly healed the wounds and construction work started in many regions. He emphasized that with the construction of the houses in Elazığ by TOKİ, new ones were built to replace the severely damaged buildings. Alan stated that the destruction caused by the earthquake was very great, but the state took the necessary steps both economically and socially.
Importance of Logistics Base Center
President Alan stated that Elazığ is at a critical point in terms of providing aid to earthquake victims and drew attention to the importance of the city hosting a Logistics Base Center. Alan stated that with the establishment of this center, Elazığ will be able to send aid to earthquake zones more quickly and effectively. “The Logistics Base Center needs to be established as soon as possible in order to take precautions before an earthquake occurs and to provide aid to public institutions and volunteer teams in our province that have gained experience in earthquakes,” he said.
State's Post-Earthquake Efforts
The President of the Elazığ Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that the compassion shown by the state to its people after the earthquake was admirable, and emphasized that the state extended a great helping hand to the citizens in the Elazığ earthquake in 2020 and the Kahramanmaraş earthquake in 2023. Alan added that all authorities fulfilled their responsibilities and that a joint effort was made for the rapid recovery of the region.

In his statement, President Alan also offered his condolences for the citizens who lost their lives in the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and wished their relatives patience and fortitude. He expressed his deep sorrow by saying, “Once again, I wish God’s mercy upon all our citizens who lost their lives and offer my condolences and patience to their relatives.”
İdris Alan's call once again highlighted the importance of the Logistics Base Center so that Elazığ can be more effective in post-earthquake relief activities not only regionally but also nationally. Stating that their insistent demands for establishing this center will continue, Alan hopes that Elazığ will set an example as a rapidly developing and recovering city.
