The 4th Turan Narcissus and Dried Flower Festival held in Bayındır, the capital of flowers, was the scene of colorful scenes. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, who attended the festival, was greeted with applause from producers who thanked him for the support given. Stating that the support would continue, Mayor Tugay said, “As long as you continue to produce, we will be with you in every sense.”
Bayındır, one of Turkey's important flower production centers, hosted the 4th Turan Narcissus and Dried Flower Festival. As part of the festival held in Turan Neighborhood, fragrant narcissus flowers and producers' handmade products were exhibited at stands set up along the road. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay also attended the festival with his wife Öznur Tugay. Mayor Tugay was greeted with applause from producers who thanked him for the support they received with banners in their hands. Bayındır Mayor Davut Sakarsu and many district mayors also attended the festival, where citizens making crowns from narcissus flowers and colorful shows drew attention. Mayor Tugay and his wife Öznur Tugay also met with famous artist Feridun Düzağaç, who performed at the festival, and watched the artist's concert.
“We will provide more support every year”
In his opening speech, President Cemil Tugay emphasized that Bayındır is the flower capital of Turkey and pointed to the banners in the hands of the producers. President Tugay stated that he was touched by the banners that read “Bayındır is the capital of flowers, President Cemil is the friend of the producer”, “Flowers bloom, producers smile. President Cemil is always with us”, “Bayındır is blooming, thanks to President Cemil” and “Support for producers, abundance for Bayındır. Thank you Cemil Tugay” and said, “As long as you continue to produce, we will be with you in every sense. In general, Küçük Menderes is one of the most important regions of Turkey in all kinds of agricultural production and animal husbandry. Our duty is to increase the production in this region even more and to provide all kinds of support we can so that our people earn more. We will definitely do this. We will continue on our way by providing more support every year.”
“We will continue to fight”
President Tugay, who expressed his congratulations to all the people of Izmir who add value to Izmir with their presence so that it can be a city where beautiful and happy people live, said, “You make us feel great pride as a fellow citizen of this city. Izmir will always continue to be the city of democracy, enlightenment, modernity, freedom and beauty. As a part of this city, we will continue to work and struggle with all our citizens in Izmir to make this beautiful city a better place.”
Thanks to President Tugay
Bayındır Mayor Davut Sakarsu said, “I would like to thank our Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, who has made great efforts in the realization of the 4th Turan Narcissus and Dried Flower Festival. Hopefully, we will be instrumental in more beautiful organizations lasting two days next year.” Mayor Sakarsu presented Mayor Tugay with a plaque and a narcissus flower painting for his contributions to the festival.
Feridun Düzağaç wiped the rust off the ears
Following the speeches, Bayındır Culture, Art and Folklore Research Association folk dance shows were held. The group, which performed dances from the Thrace region, then provided enjoyable moments to the participants with Romani songs. Bayındır Municipality Solo Zeybek Show was appreciated by Bayındır residents. A beauty contest was also held within the scope of the festival. All children who applied for the contest were chosen as the winner. Feridun Düzağaç, who created a large fan base from 7 to 77 with his songs, also created great excitement in the festival area. Düzağaç wiped the rust from the ears with his songs Düşler Sokağı, Alev Alev and Beni Bırakma. Mayor Tugay and his wife Öznur Tugay got together with Düzağaç before the concert and accompanied the artist's songs during the concert.
After the festival, Mayor Tugay visited Bergama Municipality and Bayındır Flower Producers Agricultural Development Cooperative (BAYÇİKOP).
