Automotive Production Reached 2025 Units in January 105

The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) announced the data for January 2025. Compared to the same period last year, total production decreased by 3 percent to 105 units.

The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), which is the umbrella organization of the sector with its 13 members that guide the Turkish automotive industry, announced the production and export figures and market data for January 2025. Accordingly, total automotive production in January decreased by 3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, falling to 105 units. Automobile production increased by 397 percent and was realized as 1 units.

Total production, including tractor production, reached 108 units. Commercial vehicle production in the first month of the year decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. During this period, production in the heavy commercial vehicle group decreased by 9 percent and in the light commercial vehicle group, it decreased by 51 percent.

During this period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 58 percent. Capacity utilization rates on a vehicle group basis were 60 percent in light vehicles (cars + light commercial vehicles), 23 percent in the truck group, 43 percent in the bus-midibus group and 42 percent in the tractor.

In the first month of the year, automotive exports increased by 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 78 units. During this period, automobile exports increased by 191 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 7 percent. Tractor exports decreased by 1 percent compared to the same period of 2024, reaching 54 units. According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, total automotive industry exports maintained their top position in the sectoral export ranking with 739 percent in January 2025.

According to Uludağ Exporters' Association (UIB) data, total automotive exports in January increased by 2024 percent compared to the same period in 5, reaching 2,95 billion dollars. In Euro terms, it grew by 5 percent, reaching 2,7 billion euros. During this period, main industry exports increased by 2,8 percent in dollar terms, and supply industry exports increased by 7,4 percent.

In January 2025, the total market decreased by 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 70 units. During this period, the automobile market also decreased by 412 percent and reached 13 units. When we look at the commercial vehicle market, in the first month of the year, the total commercial vehicle market decreased by 55 percent, the heavy commercial vehicle market by 944 percent, and the light commercial vehicle market by 22 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In January 38, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 19 percent, and the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 2025 percent.
